It is an ideal species to not create an excessive shade, especially when pruned at japanese bonsai style.

  • Excess of humidity in the soil doesn’t help it. It tolerates very well Mediterranean climate dryness and it keeps in good health with low level of nutrients, and consequently it doesn’t need large supply of fertilizers.
  • It well put up with drastic pruning.

PRECAUTIONS

It takes advantage especially from preventive treatments in copper base. Possible appearance of spots on leaves have to be treated with specific fungicides, once the cause identified.

CURIOSITIES

Olea europea is the mediterranean climat tree more long-lived. The thousand-years old specimens have an inestimable value, given that their long life convert them to alive witnesses of history. Unfortunately they can not talk and tell it, and for this reason often we read enigmas watching their shapes build in the past.
